Every feather is individually outlined. The eyes are expressive enough to stop you mid-room. And then the music starts.
This bisque porcelain musical figurine of a bird of prey — eagle, hawk, or falcon, the posture and scale suggest eagle — stands on a rock with talons clearly marked, the feather detail rendered with the kind of patience that separates a great figurine from a merely good one. It plays "Born Free," the Academy Award-winning John Barry and Don Black song from the 1966 film — music that has become so associated with wild freedom and wide open landscapes that it's entirely right here. The music plays a little slowly on this one, noted in the condition. Unmarked except for a "Made in Taiwan" foil label.
A beautiful gift for the bird of prey enthusiast, the wildlife decor lover, or a patriotic home that deserves something with real presence.
