Two children sheltering under an oversized umbrella, the boy in mid-story and the girl listening with complete attention — you can feel the rain outside and the warmth between them. Orange bandanas, suspenders on the boy, an apron on the girl, the characteristic palette of Hummel-inspired figurines, all hand painted with the kind of detail that makes a small piece worth keeping for seventy years.

Geo. Zoltan Lefton Company was founded in Chicago in 1941 by George Lefton, a Hungarian immigrant whose passion for fine porcelain became the foundation of one of America's most respected import companies. He earned the name "The China King" for his exacting quality standards with Japanese manufacturers. This piece retains its original foil sticker — "Lefton Trade Mark Exclusives, Japan" — which places it in the early years of the company, between 1946 and 1953. A rare find with the label intact.

A beautiful piece for a Lefton collector, a child's room, or anyone who loves figurines with genuine character and a good story. A lovely birthday, housewarming, or Mother's Day gift.
