Two choir boys in red flocked robes trimmed with genuine Dresden lace, not the common spaghetti variety — a delicacy that sets these apart from the usual mid-century choir figurines.

  • Maker: Unmarked
  • Materials: Porcelain, hand-painted; red flocked robes; real Dresden lace
  • Dimensions: Both approx. 4.0" tall x 2.5" wide
  • Origin: Japan
  • Era: Vintage, 1940s–1950s (estimated)
  • Condition: Excellent — no issues. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

The flocking gives the red a deep, velvety texture that photographs beautifully and looks even better in person. Both are marked "Japan" on the bottom and in truly wonderful vintage condition for pieces of this age.

A refined addition to a Christmas display, a serious holiday collector's shelf, or a gift for someone who knows the difference between Dresden lace and everything else.

Dresden lace was a technique developed in Germany in which real lace was dipped in liquid porcelain and fired, leaving behind a delicate ceramic replica of the original textile. It became one of the most prized decorative techniques in fine porcelain and was later adopted by Japanese manufacturers producing export pieces for the American market.
