Two small children leaning over a wooden bridge, arms outstretched, trying to catch a hat that's fallen into the water — an entirely relatable moment, captured in bisque porcelain with more expression and detail than you'd ever expect. The faces have real character; even the wrinkles in the children's clothes are well defined. Both sets of tiny arms and fingers are intact after all these years.

ArtMark Chicago, Ltd. was founded in 1947 by Mark Lozins and Arthur Born — their names combined into the trademark that appeared on the distinctive red and gold diamond foil label still attached to this piece. For over fifty years they imported and distributed giftware, figurines, and home décor from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan to American mail-order houses and general merchandise stores. A piece of mid-century American import history.

A charming piece for a child's room, a spring or summer vignette, or a shelf that welcomes something small and full of life. A sweet gift for a birthday or housewarming.
