One of the most elegant forms in the Japanese export porcelain tradition — the celery dish, long and oval with pierced handles at each end, built for graceful passing around the table. This Nippon example is beautifully hand painted: pink roses scattered across the surface, a mustard yellow border accented with hand-painted brown diamond geometric shapes, and the delicate pierced handles that make it as decorative as it is functional.

The backstamp is the old Nippon crown mark used for hand-painted wares. The mark reads "Made in Japan" rather than "Nippon," dating it to post-1921 — a period when Japanese export porcelain was at a particularly high standard of artistry. This is a piece that rewards close attention.

Use it for celery, asparagus, olives, or a composed caprese salad — or display it as the antique art object it is. A beautiful gift for lovers of Nippon porcelain, hand-painted Japanese ceramics, or anyone who appreciates the quiet elegance of early 20th-century tableware.
