One demitasse and saucer. Abalone shell mosaic on Alpaca Silver, shimmering with blues, purples, pinks, greens and silver.
A rare work of Mexican artisan craft — both cup and saucer covered in an intricate mosaic of harvested abalone shell, one of the world's most prized materials, gathered from only a few shorelines globally. The base is marked "Mexico Alpaca." Alpaca Silver (also known as Paktong or German Silver) is a lustrous copper-nickel-zinc alloy developed in 1823, prized for its visual resemblance to sterling — no silver, no alpacas. A one-of-a-kind display piece or a very memorable gift.
- Maker: Unknown — Mexico (marked "Mexico Alpaca")
- Dated: 1950s–1960s (estimated)
- Dimensions: Saucer 3.25" diameter | Cup 1.5" tall, 2.25" diameter
- Material: Abalone shell & Alpaca Silver metal
- Condition: Vintage used, excellent. No issues noted. Please review all photos carefully — we cannot accept returns.
