  • Pattern: Les Femmes du Siecle - Francoise en Pantalon 1960
  • Made in France
  • Vintage: 1979
  • Details:  An absolutely wonderful collection of plates, commissioned by the Parisian Fashion Chamber.  They feature different French women dressed in the typical style of the times, from 1865 to 1965, as envisioned by artist François Ganeau.  Every plate in this collection features a different fashion style and year, this one is titled: "Francoise en Pantalon la Femme independante 1960", plate #AT665.   The plate was made in Limoges France, which means high quality porcelain and craftmanship, it is signed by the artist on the bottom.  There are no pre-drilled holes, however, this one already has a hook attached, (please make sure it's secure before hanging, this style of hanger is glued on, the glue could be too old/dry), or you can use a plate stand /hanger to display it.  With all their vibrant colors, these plates would look great just about anywhere, however, we think they would be perfect in a bedroom or dressing area.  We carry all the plates in the collection, sold separately to allow you to complete your collection,  replace a broken plate, or choose your favorite, however, if you would like all 12, please Contact Us for a 15% discount.

François Ganeau was a French postwar & contemporary artist, born in Paris, France in 1912.  Ganeau studied sculpture, and also painted. During his lifetime, he lived and worked both in Paris and abroad. Before WWII, he travelled extensively throughout Italy, Greece, Morocco and Egypt, painting and photographing. After the war ended, he returned to work promoting theatre and dance, as well as tourism.  He continued to both paint and sculpt until his death in 1983.   He designed typefaces for use in publicity materials, you may not even be aware, but you have seen his work on your computer, he designed the Vendôme Regular Font (1951-1954) and several variations of Vendome fonts.
