  • Pattern: Vintage Decorative Plate, Limoges Les Femmes du Siecle - Edith La Femme Pratique, 1915, Ganeau Plate Collection, Wall Plate
  • Made in France
  • Vintage: 1976
  • Details:  An absolutely wonderful collection of plates, commissioned by the Parisian Fashion Chamber.  They feature different French women dressed in the typical style of the times, from 1865 to 1965, as envisioned by artist François Ganeau.  Every plate in this collection features a different fashion style and year, this one is titled: "Edith La Femme Pratique en Costume Tailleur 1915", plate #AR571.  The plate was made in Limoges France, which means high quality porcelain and craftsmanship, it is signed by the artist on the bottom.  There are no pre-drilled holes, however, this one already has a hook attached, (please make sure it's secure before hanging, this style of hanger is glued on, the glue could be too old/dry), or you can use a plate stand /hanger to display it.  With all their vibrant colors, these plates would look great just about anywhere, however, we think they would be perfect in a bedroom or dressing area.  We carry all the plates in the collection, sold separately to allow you to complete your collection or replace a broken plate, however, if you would like all 12, please Contact Us for a 15% discount.  There's a minor condition issue, please see below.
  • Materials:  Porcelain
  • Dimensions: 8.5 inches in Diameter
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Good Vintage Condition.  There is one very small chip on the bottom rim but it was not possible to capture it, not enough contrast.  If you look at the artist signature, it is on the rim, below the G and the A.  There are no scratches, or crazing on this plate.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns. Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

François Ganeau was a French postwar & contemporary artist, born in Paris, France in 1912.  Ganeau studied sculpture, and also painted. During his lifetime, he lived and worked both in Paris and abroad. Before WWII, he travelled extensively throughout Italy, Greece, Morocco and Egypt, painting and photographing. After the war ended, he returned to work promoting theatre and dance, as well as tourism.  He continued to both paint and sculpt until his death in 1983.   He designed typefaces for use in publicity materials, you may not even be aware, but you have seen his work on your computer, he designed the Vendôme Regular Font (1951-1954) and several variations of Vendome fonts.
