The shape is a classical Greek amphora — the vessel used to carry and serve wine in antiquity — and the iridescence moves through golds, coppers, and warm bronzes as the light shifts. All original labels are intact, one reading "Genuine Italian Majolica, Hand Moulded and Decorated, Italy," and the piece is signed on the bottom by "Este," the renowned ceramics town in the Veneto region, one of the great centers of Italian majolica production.
