There is nothing else quite like this one — a decanter armored, base to neck, in hand-soldered wire and filigree, as if pulled from a medieval apothecary or a Venetian palazzo.
- Maker: Unmarked
- Materials: Emerald green glass, soldered metal filigree and twisted wire, metal chain stopper
- Dimensions: 10.0" tall (with stopper), approx. 6.0" long, 3.125" wide
- Origin: Spain (estimated)
- Era: Vintage, 1930s–1950s (estimated)
- Condition: Excellent — normal age wear; stopper fits snugly but is not airtight; could use cleaning and polish. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.
The bottle is encased entirely, from base to neck, in hand-soldered twisted wire and filigree metalwork, the emerald green glass beneath glowing through the armor. The metal appears permanently fixed to the glass, making this simultaneously a decanter, a sculpture, and a genuine mystery.
A showstopping gift for the dad who collects the unusual, the dad who has everything, or anyone who appreciates the kind of object that makes visitors stop mid-conversation to ask "where did you find that?"
Based on its provenance — purchased from the estate of a well-traveled collector — we believe this piece was acquired in Spain and brought home as a souvenir. We have other caged bottles from the same estate; this is the finest of the group.
