A hand-painted pink lily, an embossed body shaped like a giant unfurling leaf, and gold exactly where you'd want it — this little creamer has more going on than its 3.5 inches suggest.

Made in Japan and stamped with the Acme China mark — listed as an unknown maker in Carole Bess White's authoritative reference on Japanese ceramics — this 1950s–1960s creamer is one of those pieces that rewards a closer look. The hand-painted lily with its bright pistils and vivid green leaves sits against a body textured entirely in an embossed leaf pattern that wraps all the way around. A swirled gold border at the rim, gold on the handle, gold accents throughout. Small but not minor.

A lovely accent on a spring or summer table, or a standout piece in a gathered creamer collection. A thoughtful gift for the Japan porcelain collector or anyone who appreciates handcraft in a small form — birthdays, Mother's Day, or simply because.
