Pink, blue, and yellow flowers with a chinoiserie lightness set this apart from more typically Western floral patterns of its era.

  • Maker: Ranmaru / Crescent Fine China
  • Pattern: Hampton
  • Materials: Porcelain
  • Origin: Japan
  • Era: Vintage, 1980s (estimated)
  • Dimensions: Sugar 4.5" tall with lid, 3" top opening; Creamer 3.5" tall, 2.5" top opening, 4.5" wide, holds 6 oz
  • Condition: Very good condition — no chips or scratches; small yellow stain on sugar rim that did not come out with cleaning (shown in photos). Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

The Hampton pattern has an appealing duality: the flowers are soft and Western in palette, but the silhouette of the sugar lid and overall composition carry a distinct Oriental sensibility that gives the set a refinement beyond its era. Several blooms play across both pieces against bright white porcelain; thin blue bands frame the upper edges. Backstamped “Crescent Fine China by Ranmaru, Hampton, Japan.”

A pretty set for a breakfast table or a tea tray, and a lovely hostess gift for anyone drawn to the chinoiserie aesthetic. Easy to mix with blue-and-white or floral china already in use.

Ranmaru produced fine china for the Crescent brand during a period when Japanese makers were exporting heavily to Western markets, blending local design sensibility with patterns tailored for American and European tables.

A lovely find for the chinoiserie or Japanese export china collector.
