Talavera pottery has been made in Puebla, Mexico for over four centuries — and every piece is still made by hand.

  • Maker: IMP (Instituto Mexicano del Patrimonio)
  • Materials: Hand-painted ceramic with metal lids
  • Dimensions: Approx. 10.0" long × 6.0" tall; each bowl approx. 4.0" diameter
  • Origin: Puebla, Mexico
  • Era: Undated (Talavera tradition ongoing)
  • Condition: Very good condition — ceramic in excellent condition; metal lids show black patina and oxidation, photographed. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.

This two-bowl condiment set in classic blue and white with yellow flower accents carries the mark “Hand Painted, IMP, Puebla Mexico” with a triangle — IMP referring to the Instituto Mexicano del Patrimonio, the organization that protects and certifies the authenticity of Mexico's Talavera tradition. The metal lids are aged, showing black patina and oxidation marks consistent with use; the ceramic itself is in very good condition with no issues.

Versatile at the table — sauces and dressings, mustard and relish, dips for a gathering, or jams and jellies for a brunch spread. Beautiful for outdoor entertaining and a natural conversation piece.

Talavera pottery carries a certification tradition unlike almost any other ceramic craft, with organizations like IMP working to protect the four-century-old technique from imitation.

A striking gift for anyone who loves handmade, storied tableware.
