The bowl is shaped like an open lotus flower atop a leafed pedestal stem, with a scalloped, multi-pointed rim in the Lotus Blossom motif. Indiana Glass produced this same design in a wide range of finishes, from satin and milk glass to carnival-style iridescent coatings, with this piece in a warm golden amber.

Lovely as a candy dish, a catchall for jewelry and trinkets, or a stand-alone accent on a shelf or vanity — a sweet gift for collectors of retro glass or anyone drawn to 1970s design.

Indiana Glass Company operated out of Dunkirk, Indiana, from 1907 until the plant closed in 2002, producing pressed glass tableware and decorative pieces sold widely through five-and-dime stores and mail-order catalogs. The Lotus Blossom pattern, catalog line #1007, was introduced in the early 1970s and became one of the company's most recognizable designs — a many-petaled lotus flower rendered as both a compote and a candy dish. It was produced in an unusually wide range of treatments, and this warm amber colorway captures the earth-tone palette so closely associated with 1970s interiors.
