Founded in 1910 by Christian Seltmann, Bavarian powerhouse Seltmann Weiden survived tragedy from its earliest days. After Christian's fatal 1921 accident, his widow Katharina managed the firm until their sons took over, with Wilhelm expanding production into new factories just before WWII. Following the war, these factories housed American soldiers and were largely destroyed as a result. Despite this devastation, the company rebuilt, Wilhelm led until his death in 1967, and Seltmann remains one of Germany’s few larger family-run porcelain makers today. Notably, this SLT83 pattern is visually identical to Mitterteich's "Debra"—a perfectly legal 20th-century practice that lets you mix and match pieces seamlessly.
