Schmidt & Co. was founded by a German-immigrant in Lower Manhattan, New York. This was not a cigar maker, but rather a lithography company. They made some beautifully embossed, high quality labels for many cigar companies. Reportedly in business between 1874 and 1916 they were part of the "Golden Age of cigar box artistry.
