This complete 14-piece antique set was made in Japan during the Imperial Nippon era (1910–1921), and it shows the period's hallmark ambition: every surface is hand-painted in moriage technique, the gilded florals built up in fine raised relief, the gold accents carried through to the handles in warm yellow. The pot has an elegant silhouette that flares toward the base, with an ornate handle and a slightly warm, grayish tone to the porcelain that speaks to its age and fine translucency. All pieces except the cups bear the Imperial Nippon teal stamp. Note that this set is substantial in weight — please keep that in mind.
