  • Pattern:  Vintage Child's Tea Set, Otagiri Lusterware, Japan.  In Original Box
  • Made in Japan
  • Vintage: 1950's - 1960's
  • Details:  Such a cute children's tea set with tea pot (missing lid), sugar, creamer and two cups with their matching saucers .  The pieces have an oriental design that includes a red and a blue flower with a tiny blue bird on each piece, and they have the lusterware / iridescent finish.  The teapot has a really nice Japanese temple design.  Every piece is stamped on the bottom "Japan".  The set is in its original box, which is in average condition (please see pictures). There is a OMC label on one side, so most likely it was imported by OMC in the 50's or 60's.  Great set for a collector!
  • Material:  Porcelain
  • Dimensions: Teapot: 4.5 inches Wide (including handle and spout) and 2.0 inches Tall.  Sugar: approx. 1 1/8 inches Tall and 2.0 inches Wide. Creamer: 1 1/8 inches Tall and 1.5 inches Wide. Cups: 1.75 inches Wide and 1.0 inch Tall, Saucers: 1.25 inches in Diameter.  Box: 7.25 inches Long by 5.25 inches Wide by 1.5 inches High.
  • Condition:  Vintage- Used.  Very Good Condition.  We didn't give it an "Excellent" rating because the teapot is missing the lid.  There are no chips, scratches or crazing on any of these pieces. The box is in average condition, tape on the sides that has yellowed with age, and a couple of tears.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.
Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) was an importer and distributor based in San Francisco, CA from 1954-1994, they also had a location in New York.  Otagiri imported ceramics, porcelain, stoneware, and giftware from many Japanese companies. The products were made in Japan and imported for sale to high end department stores and gift shops. However, from the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's Otagiri had some items specially produced just for them and those items have the name "Otagiri" brand mark. Not all OMC wares are marked, some have the gold OMC label or Otagiri written in gold. The company was bought by Enesco in 1994.
