The companion to Baby's Animal Toys, this Saalfield cloth book features eight illustrations of farm animals and children by the illustrator "Dotti." This copy has lived a full life, but the colors remain vivid and the illustrations utterly charming.
A great find, priced accordingly, for the vintage textile collector or crafter who can appreciate what it is.
Saalfield introduced its "muslin books" — children's books printed on washable cloth rather than paper — around 1902, built to survive being chewed, dragged, and loved by very young children. By 1925 the company had issued close to a hundred cloth titles, and Saalfield went on to become one of the largest publishers of children's materials in the country before closing in 1977.
