Gremlins premiered from Warner Bros. in June 1984, produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and directed by Joe Dante. The Gremlin Adventures storybook-and-record series wasn't sold in stores at all — Disney's own Buena Vista Records produced all five volumes exclusively for distribution through Hardee's restaurants to coincide with the film's release, an unusual crossover that paired a rival studio's biggest summer hit with fast food promotion.
