Each set is hand painted and stamped on the back with registration numbers, with hooks for hanging. While chalkware birds are not uncommon, sets of this age in this condition are rare — most examples at market are newer reproductions. These retain their original bright color and real mid-century character.
In a living room, a sunroom, a girl's room, or anywhere a small bright thing earns a place on the wall. A wonderful gift for a bird lover, a chalkware collector, or a lover of British mid-century craft.
The registration numbers stamped on the back are consistent with the British Registered Designs Act of 1949 — the basis for attributing these to Great Britain despite the maker remaining unknown.
