Sunshine yellow over opaque white — cased glass at its most cheerful and most considered.
A tri-fold cased glass bowl from Japan, imported by Wales (New York Merchandise Co.) in the 1960s–1970s. Opaque white on the inside, warm yellow on the outside, the two layers fused and shaped into three graceful folds. Retains its original sticker: "Wales, Made in Japan, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." Welsh-imported Japanese art glass of this period has drawn comparisons to Murano and Scandinavian production for its quality and design sensibility. Excellent condition — no scratches, chips, or cracks.
As a candy dish, a catchall, or simply as a piece of mid-century color on a shelf or side table. Works beautifully in both retro and contemporary interiors — yellow and white never goes out of style.
