Details: This is a gorgeous Japanese yellow cased glass dish that some say rivals the quality and style of Murano, Scandinavian, and Czech glass production pieces. It has opaque white glass on the inside and yellow glass on the outside. This one retains its original sticker that reads: "Wales, Made in Japan, Reg. U.S. Pat Off.". This is a decorative piece, very much in the "Mid Century Modern" or "Retro" styles of decor. Due to the large indentations, could be used as a cigar ashtray, but it's so pretty, you may not want to.

When researching trademarks, we found: "Wales" with crown trademark first used in 1950 by New York Merchandise Co., 32 W. 23RD ST. New York. Trademark last renewed in 1975, faded out by 1995. Wales appears to be an importer from Japan rather than the actual manufacturer.
