This plate crossed the Atlantic. Pattern 8125 — known as Tuscan Bird — was made by R.H. & S.L. Plant Ltd. (Tuscan China) in the 1920s–30s specifically for the Cunard Steamship Company, distributed by Stonier & Co. of Liverpool. The backstamp reads in full: Souvenir, The Cunard Steamship Company Limited, Tuscan China, Stonier & Co Ltd, Liverpool. Stonier & Co. also supplied china to the RMS Titanic and the RMS Queen Mary.

The pattern itself is gorgeous — an oriental bird amid flowers and grapes, in the chinoiserie style that was much in fashion for luxury ocean liner tableware. The decal is pristine; the condition is exceptional for a piece a century old. Two available, sold individually. Not recommended for food use due to its age.
