The Fragonard courting couple at the center of this plate is drawn from the romance of 18th-century French painting, translated into one of Sebring Pottery's most admired patterns.

A lady in blue with a hand fan, a gentleman in orange and gold and the entire border is covered in 22-karat gold floral filigree so dense and fine it reads almost like lace. The backstamp is stamped in the shape of the state of Ohio: The Sebring Pottery Company USA, C-49, Chantilly IT-S284, Warranted, 22K Gold — meaning this plate was made in 1949 and the gold is genuine. After over 75 years, the gold is still in very good condition. Priced to reflect the small rim chip.

A grandmillennial statement piece — beautiful as a wall plate or at the table.  As a catch-all on a side table, or just as beautiful on its own.

The Sebring Pottery Co. was founded in 1887 by five brothers in East Liverpool, Ohio. After massive success with durable ironstone tableware, they purchased 2,000 acres of land in 1898 to build a brand-new, industrial town.  In 1900, they moved operations to Sebring, Ohio, creating an entire city engineered around the ceramic trade. The company flourished, anchoring a town that became a powerhouse for America’s everyday dinnerware. Post-WWII competition eventually forced its closure, the company remains the founding pillar of Ohio’s iconic "pottery capital."
