Fedoskino is a village on the Ucha River, about 24 miles north of Moscow, where the tradition of Russian lacquer miniature painting has been practiced continuously since 1795. These boxes are made by a community of trained artists — each one is a unique, hand-painted original, not a print. This box is marked "Fedoskino 1985" on the lower left and signed by the artist on the lower right, and came from a collector's estate.
