On a shelf, stacked with other collected boxes, on an entry table for keys, or on a desk — it earns its place anywhere it lands. A serious piece for a serious collector.
The natural wood interior is visible through a soft varnish, and the box sits on four small ball feet, with a hinged lid and a locking mechanism (the key long gone). The technique of marquetry — inlaying wood with contrasting materials — goes back to Pharaonic times, and this piece carries that tradition in a quiet, disciplined form: no gilt, no flourish, just precise handwork in two tones of wood. This piece came from a collector's estate.
