The natural wood interior is visible through a soft varnish. Four small ball feet. Hinged lid with a locking mechanism, though the key is long gone.
The technique of marquetry — inlaying wood with contrasting materials — goes back to Pharaonic times. This piece carries that tradition in a quiet, disciplined form: no gilt, no flourish, just precise handwork in two tones of wood.
