Rare is the right word for this one. While Libbey's Golden Foliage pattern became a mid-century icon, Starlyte's version — made for only a brief window in the 1970s — is the one collectors actually hunt for. The same ethereal frosted band, the same luminous 22K gold leaves, but with subtle differences that distinguish it: slightly varied leaf rendering and plain stems on the stemware line.

Starlyte Inc. operated out of New York from 1970 to 1992, releasing at least eight gold-decorated patterns in their short run. According to the Museum of American Glass, Anchor Hocking made the glass blanks for Starlyte — lending them a quality and weight that rivals the best of the era. They never named their patterns, only numbered them; this is pattern 59-W.

A prize addition to any Golden Foliage collection, a glowing centerpiece for a fall or holiday table, or a meaningful gift for the serious mid-century glass enthusiast.
