This is the kind of piece that stops you mid-scroll — a Depression-era pressed glass nappy in Westmoreland's beloved Della Robbia pattern, with embossed apples, pears, and grapes rendered in the lighter fruit-flashing characteristic of the earliest production runs from the late 1920s and early '30s. The loop handle allowed it to be passed gracefully around the table; the small pour spout suggests it was used for fruit in syrup or small sauced desserts.

  • Made in: USA by Westmoreland Glass Company
  • Era: 1928–1940
  • Material: Pressed glass with flashed color
  • Dimensions: 7½" diameter × 2" tall (3" including handle)
  • Condition: Very good vintage condition — wear consistent with age and use; please review all photos

Though made during the Depression Era, Della Robbia was not Depression Glass — it was a deliberate artistic statement, inspired by the Italian Renaissance sculptor Luca della Robbia, whose glazed terracotta fruit garlands adorned some of the finest buildings in Florence. Westmoreland gave that same lush abundance to American tables in pressed glass.

A charming spring or summer table accent, a lovely addition to a Westmoreland or Depression-era glass collection, or a thoughtful hostess gift with genuine history behind it.
