Barton Brands Ltd. was founded in Chicago in 1944 by Oscar Getz, a serious collector of whiskey history who later founded the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History in Bardstown, Kentucky. The company grew into one of the largest producers of value-priced spirits in the United States and today operates as Barton 1792 Distillery, part of the Sazerac Company.
