This Coors goblet is a serious piece of pressed glass: heavy pedestal base, wide bowl, two visible mold seams, and the Coors logo applied in red ACL lettering on one side. It weighs nearly three pounds before packaging — a fact worth knowing at checkout, and a testament to how differently glassware was made in the 1970s and 80s. Adolph Coors and Jacob Schueler founded the Golden Brewery in Golden, Colorado, in 1873, after Coors bought a Pilsner-style recipe from a Czech immigrant and Schueler put up most of the $20,000 needed to convert an old tannery into a working brewery. Coors bought out Schueler's share in 1880 and the operation stayed under family control for more than a century; Coors beer wasn't distributed nationally until 1986, and glassware like this promotional goblet was part of the brand's steady mid-century growth into a household name well beyond Colorado.
