Hofbauer Crystal was founded in northern Germany and became known for their exquisite 24% lead crystal patterns. The Byrdes Collection — a play on the German word for birds — was among their last, and most beloved. The factory burned down in the mid-1990s and was never rebuilt, making these pieces impossible to replace. The Byrdes Collection remains one of the top 20 most collected crystal patterns in the United States.
