The Quintec pattern was originally developed by McKee Glass as an accessible version of the fine cut glass of the era — all the visual complexity, none of the price. When those molds passed to L.E. Smith Glass of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, Smith issued this basket using McKee's Quintec No. 3185 molds, keeping the pattern alive and adding it to one of the most respected names in American decorative glass. This piece is marked on the base with Smith's "S" — not all Smith pieces were marked, which makes this one particularly satisfying for the collector. The intricate all-over pattern catches light from every angle.
