• Details:  This vintage Avon Glass After Shave Decanter from the Smart Move collection is a perfect addition for collectors of vintage Avon. The decanter, originally sold with Wild Country after shave, (now empty), which Avon first issued in 1967.  It has a brown glass body and a silver top, in the shape of a Knight (Horse), chess piece, very equestrian.  It wasn't until the late 1960's that Avon perfume bottles were produced in novelty shapes like cars, dogs, and cats, which were specifically designed to be collected.  This one still retains its original sticker from Avon on the bottom.  Makes a great decor piece for a teenager's room, play room or den.  Great gift for your favorite chess aficionado.  If you are an Avon collector, this will make a very nice addition to your growing collection.  If you're trying to complete the entire chess set, we carry a few other pieces.

For more than 80 years, Avon has been selling health and beauty products, personal care, jewelry, perfumes, clothing, and many other items.  Sometimes they package their products in beautiful decanters and other glassware that have become a favorite of collectors.  In the mid 1960's, Avon began producing novelty containers for perfumes.  Collectors loved the new products, and Avon began creating more collectibles to draw in their customers.  In 1966, Avon introduced a cologne for men called Leather, which came in a boot-shaped bottle, which was the one of the earliest novelty decanters the company produced. In 1968, Avon found success selling men's Sterling Six aftershave in a bottle shaped like classic roadster car, the container sold so well, Avon came up with more whimsical ways to hold fragrances. Besides early cars, Avon made bottles for perfume, aftershave, cologne, bath oils, and lotions in the shapes of race cars, trucks, boats, and ships, which came in a range of glass colors.
