A wonderful piece for a dressing room, closet, or fashion-forward gallery wall. A meaningful gift for Kentucky history collectors, shoe enthusiasts, or lovers of mid-century retail design.
Kaufman's of Kentucky opened in 1903, was purchased by L.S. Ayres in 1969, and closed in 1971 — leaving behind a handful of advertisements and a great deal of local retail history. This 1962 full-page color ad is one of the most visually inventive: a circular arrangement of women's shoes called "Wing Dings," displayed like spokes on a wheel beneath the cheerful tagline "A Rainbow of Wing Dings!"
We carry another Kaufman's of Kentucky advertisement in the shop — browse to see both.
