GMAC's 1961 insurance ad is one of those unexpected finds — the image is so thoroughly of its moment that it reads almost like a photograph from someone's family album. Two boys in pajamas playing checkers on a blue carpet, the domestic ease of early 1960s American life rendered in full color. GMAC (General Motors Acceptance Corporation) later became National General Insurance in 2013, and was acquired by Allstate in 2021 — making this a small piece of corporate history too.
