She isn't doing laundry. She's embroidering — because the Blue Bird is.

This July 1920 Ladies Home Journal advertisement for the Blue Bird Electric Clothes Washer from BlueBird Appliance Co. of St. Louis understood exactly what it was selling: freedom. A woman sits serenely with her needlework while the machine handles the wash. The reverse carries an Armstrong Linoleum Floors advertisement — a second glimpse into the well-appointed 1920s home. Both sides oversized, full color, and in extraordinary condition for their age.

A wonderful piece for collectors of domestic history, home appliance ephemera, or early feminist advertising imagery. Beautiful framed for a laundry room or vintage kitchen.
