Spangle the Bear was introduced April 24, 1999, with a birthday of June 14th — Flag Day, naturally — and carries a short verse on the box celebrating his stars-and-stripes pride. TY was founded by Ty Warner in Oak Brook, Illinois in 1986. Beanie Babies launched in 1993 and by the late 1990s had become one of the greatest toy crazes in American history; TY was also the world's first Internet sensation, connecting with collectors online as early as 1995.
