- Details: These are truly beautiful rice bowls! Each with a different pattern/color combination, all done in the traditional brightly-colored style of Arita ware Japanese export porcelain known as Imari. They all have florals, and they all have Japanese symbols like Shippo which is a woven pattern, it symbolizes a Happy Ending. Seigaihan which symbolizes Continued Peaceful Living. Uroko pattern said to have the power of driving out evil. Kikkou is made up of tortoise shell shapes and its a symbol of longevity and a prayer for long life. One bowl is entirely made up of Pine Trees, Bamboo and Plum Blossoms, which together symbolize Auspiciousness (the quality of being encouraging or promising of a successful outcome, advantageous, positive). Hope you found this interesting and it gives you a deeper appreciation for such a beautiful collection of bowls. If given as a gift, it would be great to tell your recipient a little about these patterns. We were unable to identify the mark on the bottom so we’re unsure if these are vintage or newer. Hopefully you will have fallen in love with them, just like we did, regardless of age or pedigree.
