  • Details:  A beautiful Meat Serving Fork in a sweet pattern called “First Love”.  Very appropriate for a wedding, Valentine’s Day, a romantic dinner, or anytime you need a pretty pattern on the table.  This is an early 20th century design, from the 1930’s and very Art Deco!  First Love was the most successful pattern ever produced by International Silver, introduced in 1937 and made until the mid 1950’s. The design is on the front as well as the back.  It is stamped on back: “1847 Rogers & Bros. IS, First Love”.  The “IS” is for International Silver.  Great as a hostess/host gift, or for someone who appreciates vintage servingware, or perfect for a collector.  Gorgeous on a buffet table!  We have other flatware pieces in this pattern if interested.

Every effort has been made to show scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

1847 ROGERS BROS was a trademark used starting in 1863 on silver plated spoons and other flatware pieces manufactured by Roger Brothers, Asa and Simeon.  Roger Brothers was a series of family owned companies that were intertwined by spin-offs, splits, mergers, and new ventures started by sons, brothers and other family members who wanted to cash-in on the Rogers name.  They all come from the original Rogers who we believe was started by William Rogers Sr and his partner, Joseph Church back in 1825, in Hartford, CT.

The trademark was also used by Meriden Britannia Company because in 1866 Rogers merged with Meriden and ceased to exist as a separate firm, however, the trademark continued to be used.  Even after the International Silver Contortion was formed, in 1898, the 1847 Rogers mark continued to be used, that’s why you see the IS after the Rogers name.
