  • Pattern: Columbia
  • Made in USA
  • Antique: 1893
  • Details:  A beautiful ladle in the very old “Columbia” pattern by Rogers & Bro AI.  This 19th century design is extremely ornate, with so many different swirls, shells, loops  and textures, it’s difficult to describe, just beautiful!  To make it even more beautiful it has a gold washed bowl!   It was designed by George Rockwell in 1893 for Rogers & Bro.   Although it’s designed for serving gravy, we could see it being used for many other sauces, both sweet and savory.  It is stamped on back, a little worn but it reads: Rogers&Bro AI”.  Great as a hostess/host gift, or for someone who appreciates vintage servingware, or perfect for a collector.  Gorgeous on a buffet table!
  • Material:  Silver plate
  • Dimension:  7.25 inches Long.  The bowl is approx 2.5 inches Wide
  • Condition:  Vintage – Used.  Excellent Condition.  This is in perfect antique condition, with normal use and wear.  All silver pieces which have been used will have surface scratches.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new. Every effort has been made to show scratches, wear and tear and imperfections. Refunds will not be given unless there’s gross misrepresentation of condition.
  • Shipping is included on every order with some exceptions.  See FAQ’s for exceptions.

Rogers & Bro AI was established in 1858 at Waterbury by Asa Jr. and Simeon Rogers. Until 1874 the firm was only a flatware manufacturer. It was one of the original companies becoming part of International Silver Company in 1898

1893 is sort of a grim year in the USA   Here are just a few things that happened that year:  1) In May the New York Stock Exchange crashed, starting a depression.  2) Lizzi Borden is found not guilty of murdering her parents. 3) The Sea Islands hurricaine hits Charleston, Savannah and  the Sea Islands, killing thousands.  On the other hand, this was the year Kathy Lee Bates wrote the song “America the Beautiful” and women in Colorado are given the right to vote.  Both Mae West (acress) and Dorothy Parker (writer) are born this year.
