Description

  • Pattern:  Santa Claus
  • Made in: Japan
  • Vintage: 1980’s
  • Details: This is such a colorful mould!  It has Santa in his bright red suit carrying a green sack full of toys.  Bordered in red with candy canes all around the sides, it is the perfect item for your holiday kitchen!  It is pre-drilled with two holes on top as these are meant for hanging as decor.  It is stamped on the back: “Sigma the taste setter tm,  MCMLXXXIII”.  The original label is still attached, it reads: “Sigma the taste setter. Please note that all pieces are hand decorated so color variance could occur.  Laboratory tested to comply with FDA guidelines, Made in Japan”.  Would look great hanging on a wall in a kitchen or dining room.  If you’re adding to, or starting, your own collection of holiday moulds (molds?), we hope this piece brings you great joy.

Towle silversmith’s history can be traced back as early as 1690 but it wasn’t until 1857 that Anthony Frances Towle and his apprentice, William P. Jones, formed Towle & Jones.   They have a long and complicated history with acquisitions, bankruptcies and re-starts, however, as it relates to this piece here is what we know.  Sigma the Tastesetter was a registered trademark of the Towle/Sigma Giftware Corporation.  The Sigma trademark was filed on March 31, 1981 to sell tableware and decorative accessories  They cancelled the trademark in August of 1989.
