This backstage pass is a big part of the Fleetwood Mac’s history. The band was always entangled in lots of drama and the recording of the Rumors album and subsequent tour were no different. At the time Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham had just ended their longtime love affair. At the same time, Christine McVie was in the middle of a nasty divorce from her husband, bassist John McVie. Not to be outdone, Mick Fleetwood’s marriage to Jenny Boyd was on the rocks, which lead to an affair with Stevie Nicks. The band’s turmoil is clearly played out in their brutally honest lyrics. Anyone who listens to the Rumors album can glean the sadness and pain within the songs. Rumors is often considered Fleetwood Mac’s best release. In 2004, Rumours was remastered and reissued this time adding the song “Silver Springs”, originally written by Stevie Nicks but left off the original album because of space constraints. The Rumors LP has sold more than 45 million copies worldwide, and it’s one of highest-selling albums of all time.
