- Made in China
- Vintage: 1970’s
- Details: This Chinese scroll is really beautiful! It is stamped with a gorgeous depiction of a beautiful Oriental woman in traditional clothing at leisure, admiring nature. These pieces are woven with thread as well as gold paper which forms the long, foldable, wall hanging. This specific piece has yellowed with time, although we don’t believe it was ever “light” as these are made of long wood strips, most likely bamboo. The scroll has nice stained wood dowels on top and bottom of the scroll. It retains its original yellow ribbon tied in a bow for hanging. There is some Chinese calligraphy as well as red stamps on the side, we wish we could read what they say, perhaps a kind visitor will let us know. We took pictures with and without flash, that explains the variation in color you see in the pictures. These scrolls were very popular in the 1970’s and they are back in favor, especially in the Boho, Retro and Chinoiserie decor styles.
