- Pattern: Old Couple
- Made in USA
- Vintage: 1974
- Details: This is a great pair of bookends in a “Grandma & Grandpa” or “Old Couple” design. They are very whimsical and unique, we dare say, one of a kind. The woman is knitting and the man is reading, they both have yellow glasses on and wearing blue outfits, her with a shawl, his with a vest. The soft tones are really nice, and the level of detail is marvelous. We believe these were made in a little shop called the Nifty Nook in West Plains, MO, (later became Studio 160 Ceramics), we give credit to Carol, the Nifty Nook’s owner, for the mold used. Clients would use her molds to create these, and many other items, and then paint and fire them right in the store’s kiln. So these are unique, one of a kind art and they are signed and dated (1974) by the artist. There is felt on the bottom of each to protect your furniture. A word of caution, these are quite heavy (to hold your books), however, they will be expensive to ship, our price already includes shipping fees, no surprise at check-out. Great as a gift, for a study, library, office or for your favorite geriatrician!. Hey, Grandparent’s Day is in September!!
