Moss Rose is one of the most beloved and widely imitated patterns in ceramic history — first introduced in the early 1800s, named for a Victorian heirloom rose whose wispy, hairy edges gave it a mossy appearance. This version by Wtoctawek of Poland is transferware rather than hand-painted, with a large pink rose and semi-opened buds alongside green stems and delicate light blue sprigs. The body is embossed with leaf shapes and scrolls; the handle is intricate; the rim is scalloped. Stamped "Wtoctawek Made in Poland" on the base.

A collector's note: Moss Rose was made by many manufacturers — Bavarian, Sango, Fine China of Japan, Pompadour, Wedgwood of Etruria, Royal Sealy, and others. They all look similar but vary. If you're building a specific maker's collection, this is a Wtoctawek piece from 1960s Poland, not a Japanese or German version.
