- Made in St. Marie, MI, USA
- Vintage: 1931
- Details: Truly one of a kind quality, Chippewa Brand Evaporated Milk label, Guaranteed Genuine/Original. One of the nicest American Indian labels you'll ever see and getting harder to find, especially in this condition. This is a brightly colored stone lithograph image of an American Indian Chief. There are arrows on the sides and two pairs of moccasins all in amazing detail and color. The printer's mark dates it this label to 1931. The colors on the American Indian headdress are beautifully done and the attention to detail is amazing considering there were no computer graphics back then. It would take a craftsman 3 to 4 months to make the plates to produce a label like this. It is marked "Sault Wholesale Grocers Sault St. Marie, Mich". It's rare to run into can labels of this kind of quality and condition, definitely suitable for framing, and recommended to maintain condition. Collecting labels has become a very popular hobby, mainly because of the many beautiful and unique images/artwork that can be found. If this is your hobby, we have lots more labels available, please feel free to browse.
