Edwin M. Knowles built his reputation on one principle: only the finest semi-vitreous ware would leave his factory. He founded Knowles China Company in 1900, expanded to West Virginia in 1913, and kept that standard until the company closed in 1963 — unable to compete with cheaper imports, but never willing to lower the bar. Collectors have been seeking out Knowles ever since.
Blossom Time is one of his loveliest patterns: white, pink, and yellow flowers of varying sizes on thin branches with taupe and silvery leaves, all finished with a gold rim. Off-white in tone rather than bright white, which gives it a warmth that suits a cottage table, a French country kitchen, or a mix of pink depression glass. Twenty-four pieces — four complete six-piece settings, each with a dinner plate, soup bowl, salad plate, dessert bowl, cup, and saucer. We also carry matching serving pieces.
A beautiful set for someone building a vintage American table, a Knowles collector, or anyone who loves florals done with restraint and grace.
