Scotty's Castle, at the valley's north end, was built in the 1930s by Chicago businessman Albert Johnson. Walter Scott, the "Death Valley Scotty" the castle is named for, never owned it. The Twenty Mule Team itself hauled around 46,000 pounds of borax at a time, along with its own water and feed, on a roughly ten-day, 165-mile haul out of Death Valley. Badwater, shown on the glass, is the lowest point in North America, at 282 feet below sea level.

The Hazel Atlas Corporation was founded in 1885 in Wellsburg, WV, by Charles N. Brady and C.H. Tallman. It began by making glass inserts for zinc canning-jar lids and grew into the largest glass-container manufacturer in the world. In 1956 it was acquired by the Continental Can Company.

Browse our shop for more vintage souvenir glasses to round out your collection.

https://www.antigotrunk.com/products/tumbler-hazel-atlas-souvenir-death-valley-california-scottys-castle-frosted-vintage-1950s
