Every surface decorated — roses, leaves, swirls, and imitation cane-weave on the lid — the full Hollywood Regency vocabulary in silverplated cast metal.
Made in Japan in the 1950s–1960s, this footed jewel casket is lined in bright red velvet with a hinged lid. The high-relief embossing is exceptional for a piece of this type and period. Marked on the base: "Made in Japan." We believe this is silverplated based on research into Japanese caskets of the era, though we've priced it conservatively. The bottom has either lost its plating or was never plated — it has a yellow tone — and there is wear on the legs and base consistent with age and use. The top and sides remain striking.
On a vanity, a dresser, or a side table — for rings, earrings, or simply as a decorative accent that rewards a closer look. A gift for a Hollywood Regency collector or anyone who appreciates maximum ornament in a small package.
