American Limoges wasn't shy about its identity — not to be confused with the French original, a distinction the company was eventually compelled to make official.

  • Maker: American Limoges China Company
  • Pattern: Janis R-132
  • Material: Ceramic with 22kt gold accent
  • Dimensions: 14" including handles, 11¼" diameter
  • Origin: Sebring, Ohio, USA
  • Era: Vintage, 1945–1955
  • Condition: Very good vintage. Crazing and some discoloration consistent with age and use. Small yellow mark on back. Not new; please review all photos carefully, as all sales are final.

The Janis pattern (R-132) is characteristic: a generous bouquet of roses in light pink, dark pink, yellow, and gray-white with dark green leaves, an embossed rope border, and a 22kt gold accent on the verge and rim. The ceramic is cream rather than bright white, which suits the warmth of the palette.

At 14 inches including handles, this is a genuinely large serving plate — ready for a full cake, an Easter spread, or a generous cheese board.

Founded in Sebring, Ohio in 1887, American Limoges filed for bankruptcy in 1955. In the years between, they produced some of the most cheerful and well-made American ceramic tableware of the mid-century.

A lovely piece of American ceramic history, and a beautiful addition to a cottage or farmhouse table. Browse our shop for more vintage American ceramic serveware to round out your collection.
